What Is Art?
Homework due Tuesday, September 10
Our class read-aloud novel, Chasing Vermeer, has brought up the
questions, What is Art? Who decides what
art is? Who is art for?
To help answer these questions, each
student needs to look at home for something they feel is art.
They need to either bring in the object or
send a photo of it to Ms Elder (eeelder@cbe.ab.ca). Each student also needs to
be prepared to stand up in front of the class, describe the item, show it to
us, then explain why they feel that it is art. If able to, please also tell the
class who the artist is and what it is made out of.
Students are encouraged to write down what
they’d like to say so they can remember when they go to share.
Artifacts will be returned home after the
presentations.
